Pueblo County Data
The Healthy Kids Colorado survey is the state’s only comprehensive survey on youth health and well-being. Results from this survey provide a better understanding of youth health and the factors that promote or create barriers to achieving optimal well-being.
The survey is implemented every 2 years and is completely voluntary and confidential. There are multiple levels of informed consents, from school districts to the youth, before the survey is disseminated.
Why are we tracking these indicators in Pueblo County? Research shows that upstream protective factors in a youth’s life (e.g., having a trusted adult, clear family rules, valuing school, etc.) predict positive health outcomes in youth. The Pueblo Everyday Heroes Committee continually track short, medium, and long term outcomes in our local youth to gauge current successes and challenges so we can work to ensure youth thrive in our community. Every person in Pueblo County can have an impact on youth outcomes by addressing risk and protective factors in the community. Individuals can also incorporate protective factors into their own lives to help youth thrive. Here is more information if you are interested in learning more about resources or getting involved.
